Our globally unique know-how results from over thirty years’ solidarity with the Volvo brand, more than a decade of motorsport experience and numerous class victories with Volvo cars. To ensure systematic and sustainable implementation, all our product development workflows have been certified for compliance with the quality assurance system DIN ISO 9001:2008 by the KBA (Kraftfahrtbundesamt, Federal Motor Transport Authority) and with the environmental management system under ISO 14001:2004. Admittedly: it’s no easy task, but it’s worth it!
The essence of HEICO SPORTIV ECU power upgrade lies in a complex reprogramming of the electronic engine management system or installation of the supplementary engine control unit e.motion - individually for each and every engine - and transmission combination. To this end, all performance-relevant parameters are tweaked on the basis of the original ignition map and afterwards proven on our in-house roller dynamometer. Our mission is to optimize the interplay between the turbo charging air pressure, fuel injection duration and timing (ignition timing for gasoline-operated engines) without exceeding the technically specified loading limits of the engine, transmission, drive train or – in the case of diesel engines – soot filter. After that, we conduct grueling performance tests, initially to simulate long term stress situations on the proving ground, then under everyday road traffic conditions. |

All the diagnosis and engine protection functions (e.g. for monitoring the maximum boost pressure or all temperature values) are fully retained, along with Volvo’s traditional durability and road driving characteristics. And compliance with the relevant emissions standards is also a foregone conclusion. While further USPs include labeling with a HEICO SPORTIV production badge and serial number in the engine compartment, all vehicles also delivered exclusively with certificates for stress-free registration (in compliance with Section 19 StVZO (Straßenverkehrs-Zulassungsordnung, Road Traffic Licensing Regulations) for Germany and a conformity accreditation (for Switzerland) (country specific).

HEICO SPORTIV thinks holistically. Admittedly: it’s all about superior power development, improved driving dynamism, more fun. But not at the expense of the envi-ronment. Rather, we’re talking about exhausting existing potential to the full. One of the paramount goals of developing a tuning program is to optimize engine efficiency... finding the perfect balance between more power and lower fuel consumption. In a nutshell: it’s all about efficiency.
The result is most evident when you get behind the wheel. Thanks to the higher torque, desired speeds can literally be reached without having to “step on it” so much. Less engine churn at full throttle and lower revolution speeds help cut fuel consumption... besides the aspired improvements in performance and driving safety, a pleasing and measurable outcome.
The best example of this is the Volvo XC70 D5 automatic: after tuning to 169 kW (230 bhp), this all-wheel drive vehicle consumes just 7.15 liters*/100 km or around 0.5 liters less diesel that its series counterpart (*calculated by TÜV Rheinland on the basis of the prescribed measurement procedure RL 80/1268/EWG). |
